I had to write my Congressman after doing a little research today, but here's what I found out as described in my letter to my Congressman.
I am attempting to plan my retirement healthcare and am constantly running into issues because of YOUR actions on the NON-Affordable Healthcare Act.
Basically, this act has put doctors into a situation where they are no longer accepting Medicare patients. To compound matters, I could maintain my current health insurance (Federal Employee's Blue Cross/Blue Shield), but I have been informed that I would no longer be eligible for Tricare as a copayer.
The third option of paying for Medicare, Blue Cross and Tricare leaves me with a similar situation in that both Blue Cross and Tricare become the secondary payers, and the doctors are still refusing to accept Medicare.
I did not support this act at the onset, and I now find it nearing criminal. I've been paying into both Social Security and Medicare since 1964 (when I was 15 years old). Now that I'm approaching retirement, both are in question. The real problem is that Congress did nothing to reduce the cost of health care, but thinks they can mandate a reduction in payment and it will all be well. When the amount paid to establish an office, pay insurance, hire a staff, and have necessary equipment on hand, current Medicare payments as directed by the NON-Affordable Healthcare Act will result in a negative income to doctors, and leave us with NO healthcare.
If this had been enacted along with a ceiling of suit losses and a removal all off those that have not paid into the program would help. |
